IEM Katowice is just around the corner and we already have the top teams in the city for the event. However, a few days before the start of the Major a new report by Dekay from Dexerto mentions that the next CS: GO Major could be held in Berlin.

A few days ago Starladder esports manager mentioned that Starladder would be hosting the upcoming CS: GO Major. However, since the event was not public knowledge (it’s still not formally announced); he quickly backtracked on the specifics of his statement. You can read the tweet below; where he mentions that Starladder will be hosting the upcoming CS: GO Major.

When people started asking him about the upcoming CS: GO Major, he quickly covered it up with a lack of knowledge of the CS: GO scene.

What does the Major in Berlin mean for CS: GO?

For the past few years, we have seen CS: GO Majors alternate between North America and Europe. The next CS: GO Major is the upcoming IEM Katowice in Poland. If this report is true, then the next Major would also take place in Europe, in this case, Berlin. It would be a big boost to CS: GO in the European scene.

Starladder has hosted several CS: GO events in the past few years. They have successfully run their Starladder series of events including some of the top teams in Counterstrike. However, this would be the first time that the team would be hosting a CS: GO Major. A CS: GO Major is different from other tournaments due to Valve’s sponsorship adding to the prize pool. In addition, being a Valve sponsored event, it also brings further revenue to participating teams from Sticker revenue.

Trushliako also confirmed that StarLadder will host two WCS circuit events in Kiev.  one will run from May 17-19 and the other will take place from July 12-14.

For now, fans can watch the upcoming IEM Katowice Major on Twitch. They can also buy in-game viewing pass for $9.99 to play the Pick’Em challenge. Buying the pass will also ensure that all viewers receive souvenier cases if they watch the matches in-game or via Twitch.
