German software corporation SAP has announced the extension of its partnership with event organiser and production company ESL.
The aim of the deal is to improve the viewing experience of Dota 2 events hosted by ESL through the use of additional insights during the pick & ban phase of matches.
The announcement came in the form of a tweet from SAP, also revealing that DreamHack is now involved. This, presumably, means that SAP will be involved with the DreamLeague Season 11 Major hosted by DreamHack on March 14-24th.
The software corporation is currently working at ESL One Katowice, a $300,000 (£229,503) Dota 2 event held at the Spodek Arena. As of writing, the tournament is close to closing out its group stage.
The partnership between ESL and SAP was announced in September 2018, starting with ESL One Hamburg. SAP provided further insights and analysis into the pick & ban phase of the Dota 2 tournament to “improve the fan experience”.
SAP has also worked with PGL, notably for the Kuala Lumpur Major in November last year, and entered esports last April when it became Team Liquid’s official innovation partner through a three-year deal.
Esports Insider says: We applaud any effort to improve the viewing experience for spectators and SAP has done a decent job at the events it has worked at so far. While the details of its partnership with DreamHack are yet to be revealed, we’re expecting to see the DreamLeague Major get a boost from SAP’s analytical ability. It’s good, at least, to see SAP stick around at Dota 2 events for the near future.
