The LEC (League of Legends European Championship) has reached the end of its first spring season. The coming up playoff stage will decide the champion. The last nine days of the league left have us with great surprises in the ranks and of course, some teams have disappointed.
Fnatic resurfaced from its own ashes and restructured itself as a champion team. From being the big disappointment to one of the clear favorites for the title. G2 Esports, clear leader during the split, lifted its foot off the accelerator in the last three weeks. The samurai do not seem as invincible as at the beginning, but they are still the rival to beat.

On the other hand, Schalke and Misfits mark the disappointment of the spring season. The Germans finished the Spring split without entering the playoffs. Misfits ended the Spring season empty-handed. Origin, Splyce, and SK Gaming were great surprises of the LEC.
The LEC will debut new playoff format
Six teams have secured their place in the spring playoffs. G2 Esports (13-5) and Origin (12-6) will face each other in the second round of the new format of the LEC. The winner of the tie will go directly to the grand finals that is to be played in Rotterdam. The team of xPeke sneaked into the second place demonstrating that their return to the LEC has not been something that can be taken for granted.
On the other hand, Fnatic (11-7) and Team Vitality (10-8) will fight for supremacy in the first phase. This will be a major talking point until the sides actually meet. However, neither team is the same as the 2018 Worlds. Since November, the game and the rosters have changed a lot. Both teams will have so much to fight for and will surely be an entertaining encounter. However, Fnatic is on the rise. They have also learned from their mistakes and Vitality will surely have to give their 110% to defeat one of the veteran sides of the competitive landscape.
The Regular Season of the first ever #LEC Split has come to an end and we now know the six teams who will compete in the Spring Playoffs. Relive all the action with this week’s Flashback!

In the first phase, we will also see, SK Gaming (9-9) and Splyce (11-7) in action. However, Splyce arrives as a favorite against Werlyb and company. But if something characterizes SK Gaming, that is their power to surprise viewers, specialists, and analysts.
The playoffs will begin next March 29 and will last until April 14. The headquarters will be Rotterdam and the format will distribute a total of € 200,000 in prizes. In addition, the first three places will be invited to the Rift Rivals 2019 while the champion will represent Europe in the main event of MSI 2019.

Two teams we won’t be seeing are Schalke 04 and Misfits. Both of the sides had so much potential but have unfortunately come out short. Excel and Rogue confirmed that they have much to improve in order to compete with the rest of the European teams. However, the year is long and the summer season is open for contention.
