German brewery Warsteiner has been announced as the main sponsor of Freaks 4U Gaming‘s 99Liga for 2019.
With this deal, an offline event for German CS:GO community portal 99Damage will be hosted in Dortmund, Germany in December.
99Liga is the official tournament of 99Damage, with Division 1 of the competition’s eleventh season starting earlier this month. The playoffs of the event will span over May 11-12th with a prize pool of €20,800 (~£17,714). Organisations such as Unicorns of Love and EURONICS Gaming are currently taking part in the division.
The aforementioned offline event will be hosted in the Warsteiner Music Hall with an estimation of 2,500 guests having the ability to watch in-person. Twitch and bet-at-home.com are both partners of 99Liga.
In May 2018, Warsteiner entered a three-year deal with ESL Germany that allows it to distribute drinks at events such as ESL Meisterschaft, ESL One, and ESL Arena at gamescom. While the deal specifically involves non-alcoholic beer, the brewery’s popular beer is available at such events but is not involved in the sponsorship.
Esports Insider says: It’s good to see a regional league receive some support from a brand, especially when it results in the expansion of the league itself. Moving from solely an online event into having its own offline competition is a great development from 99Liga.
