The first qualifiers for the Fortnite world championship will start on April 13. Yet, getting a pass for the $ 30 million tournament will not be easy. For all those who are still confused, Epic Games has created a more accessible tournament with $ 500,000 in prizes to warm up the atmosphere with the preparation of the Fortnite World Cup. Yes, you have read it correctly; there’s a tournament before a tournament.
This event in duos will take place during this weekend, April 6 and 7. But there’s a twist since only those duos who are in the sixth division of arena mode will be able to take part. This means that only the League of Applicants will be able to participate. All those players who are classified will see the option to participate in the event unlocked. But, only the 1500 best pairs will advance to the next round. The finals will take place on Sunday 7 April.

The main differences between the preparation of Fortnite World Cup and the great event are quite remarkable. On the one hand, those players who are within the seventh division of the arena mode, the Champions League will be able to compete for an invitation for the final in New York. On the other hand, evidence of monetary differences stands out. Since $ 500,000 is not an impressive prize pool and it can not be compared with $ 30 million.
Too little too late?
The appearance of the Fortnite World Cup Preparation tournament could have been announced a little earlier in order to encourage the community to play more and better within arena mode. They could have started a hype in the ranking and only the best would have prevailed. However, the information about the event was launched just a couple of days before it starts. The room for improvement for the duos is quite small.
The first impression of the Arena Mode is not good. Since, as previously mentioned, the new event was just announced a few hours ago. This means that those who have missed the window will have to compete more seriously from now on. Epic Games have also announced some fixes to the Arena Mode. The pros have complained about the long waiting times for the game in the top ranks. This quick initiatives by the developer indicate that they are serious about the new mode. The players should also take things seriously from now on so that they won’t miss out on another tournament.
Epic Taking Charge of screen resolutions
Speaking about the professionals, the mood between the pros and Epic is tense at the moment as patch 8.20 was hated by the fans. Owing to the changes, professionals have to switch to the arena mode for the tournament rules. This means that the pros will now have less time to train.
Moreover, numerous professionals changed the resolutions of their screens to 4: 3. They hope for a bigger Hitbox with the opponents, because the screen is a bit strained and wider. The opponent also appears wider. Epic now prohibits the whole thing, so that no player has an advantage by changing the screen resolution. In tournaments and in Arena mode, no resolution other than the 16: 9 is permitted.
