Defy Gaming has announced a partnership with health and fitness supplement giants Bodybuilding.com. This looks to be one of the first ventures for BodyBuilding.com’s sponsorship within esports.
The deal is also the latest in a string that Defy Gaming has put together, recently adding energy drinks company MATI and esports design study, Themes to their current partners.
Defy, and Bodybuilding.com will work together to help to improve the health and fitness of their players; something which is becoming more and more critical in esports. Speaking on Twitter, Defy owner, Rob Amesquita said: “I am so happy to announce this partnership finally. Partnering with Bodybuilding.com, we hope to set some new standards in esports!”
With Bodybuilding.com also having a range of esports supplements and protein bars that that reportedly helps ‘intense concentration and optimal mental speed’ we will likely see these advertised by any Defy team member or streamer.

There has been a growing trend of teams partnering with health and fitness companies to improve player performance. Earlier this year Overwatch League side and Stage 1 runners up, San Francisco Shock partnered with technology company Hyperice to ‘deliver cutting-edge recovery devices and methodology’.
Esports Insider says: The partnership opening up opportunities to gain exposure with some of BodyBuilding’s 11.8million social followers. It will be interesting to see what actual fitness programs the two come up with and what impact it has on the team’s performance. We’re also keen to see if BodyBuilding.com’s sponsorship in esports adds some new names throughout the year.
