Astralis were really put to test today by one of the most in-form sides in the shape of Renegades. The Danish side, which is the current No.1 team in the world of CS: GO had two flawless games in the first two rounds of the IEM Katowice 2019 Legends Stage, but they faced some strong opposition from the Renegades today. Astralis began the first match on Mirage in a strong manner, leading 12-3 at halftime. The match seemed to be as a formality for the Danish side, but Renegades came back from behind to win in overtime.

Astralis went into the second map of the tie, which was Nuke, knowing that they need to win two maps in order to secure a playoff spot. However, Nuke was Astralis’ choice in terms of maps and it has to be said that they held a record of 28 victories out of 28 games played on Nuke prior to the game. It was a back and forth first half, ending with Renegades winning 9-6. Unfortunately, the Australian side was unable to win a single round as Terrorists, meaning that Astralis ended up winning the match 16-9.

Everyone expected a tight third map, but Astralis proved to be too good for Renegades on Inferno. Things quickly felt apart for Renegades on Inferno, as Astralis ramped to an amazing 13-2 lead at halftime. In addition, the Danes started the second half in a similar strong manner, pushing the apartments during the pistol round and winning a flawless round. That was practically the end of the game for Renegades, as they were low on money and had nothing to play within the following two rounds.
