EA’s Apex Legends has been available for three weeks now, and it seems that the player’s base is getting larger and better. The game was released on February 4, 2019, for multiple platforms such as Microsoft Windows, Xbox One and Playstation 4. Apex Legends is another free-to-play battle royale game, although it features elements from a variety of video games, including class-based shooters, Titanfall series and evolving narratives. In comparison with the other battle royale giants such as Fortnite and PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds, Apex Legends is a bit more futuristic shooter. This means that the weapons are vaguely recognisable and it can be difficult to know which one to pick. Here is our guide to the best Apex Legends Weapons in each category.

First of all, you need to know that personal preference is the main factor in each shooter game, so finding the right gun that suits your playstyle can be a little tricky. There is a variety of weapons in Apex Legends, including Submachine Guns, Assault Rifles, Light Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns and Pistols. There are loads of guns that can fit your playstyle, and we will be looking to give you more info about the gun’s damage capabilities, the ammo type and the attachment you can use on each weapon.

Things to know about Apex Legends weapons and attachments

• Maximum HP for any character is 200 (100 base health plus 25 health for each level of the shield.
• Helmets don’t provide HP, but it gives the player more resistance to headshots.
• The weapon damage can be seen when you land a hit on your opponent.
• In addition, this weapon damage is illustrated according to your opponent’s equipment. As for example, yellow is for headshots, purple for purple/gold shields, blue for blue shields, etc.
• There are loads of attachments that make your weapons better:

– Stock attachments: Allows the player to switch the weapons quicker and reduce aim recoil when aiming down sites.
– Barrel attachments: Reduce recoil
– Magazine attachments: This type of attachment will drastically increase your ammo capacity.
– Optic attachments: It adds an optic sight or scope to your weapon and there is a variety of zooming levels.
– Hop-up attachments: These are unique attachments designed for just a couple of weapons.

Please note that these attachments can’t be applied to every Apex Legends weapon.

Pistols – Wingman

Damage profile: Headshot – 90 damage; Bodyshot – 45 damage
Available attachments: Standard Optic, Extended Heavy Mag, Hop-Up (Skullpiercer)

Wingman seems to be the best choice out of the pistols category due to the fact that uses heavy ammo. When paired with the Skullpiercer attachment, Wingman becomes a deadly weapon. Please note that the pistol has a slow firing capability and low accuracy, which means that you need a lot of practice in order to master the weapon.

Shotguns – Mastiff Shotgun

Damage profile: Headshot – 288 damage; Bodyshot – 144 damage
Available attachments: None

The Mastiff is a legendary weapon, which makes it extremely rare inside the game and even uses unique ammunition that cannot be replenished. Once you find the weapon and manage to land all the pellets onto an opponent, be sure that you have a good chance to win the game. The skilled Apex Legends players can clear an entire room with ease with the Mastiff Shotgun due to its total of 4-rounds per magazine.

Assault Rifles – VK-47 Flatline

Damage profile: Headshot – 32 damage; Bodyshot – 16 damage
Available attachments: Standard Optic, Extended Heavy Mag, Standard Stock

The VK-47 Flatline is the best choice in the AR category in my opinion, due to its high fire-rate and minimal recoil. The Flatline’s 20-round magazine gives players the right amount of bullets to destroy an enemy’s shield. The gun works perfectly in medium to long range encounters.

Sub Machine Guns – Prowler Burst PDW

Damage profile: Headshot – 21 damage per bullet; Bodyshot – 14 damage per bullet
Available attachments: Standard Optic, Extended Heavy Mag, Standard Stock, Hop-Up (Selectfire Receiver)

Prowler Burst PDW has the highest damage capabilities in the SMG category due to a 5-round Burst feature and a 20-round magazine overall. This is a perfect choice for close quarter combats, as it can do 105 damage on a headshot hit if you can land all the bullets from the 5-round burst switch.

Light Machine Guns – M600 Spitfire

Damage profile: Headshot – 40 damage; Bodyshot – 20 damage
Available attachments: Barrel Stabilizer, Standard Optic, Extended Heavy Mag, Standard Stock

Although Devotion is the community’s favourite in the Light Machine Guns category, M600 Spitfire seems to be more practical. The gun has an amazing accuracy and fire rate. It uses heavy rounds and holds up to 35 rounds in a single clip, but it takes longer to reload so you need to have some cover when doing that.

Sniper Rifles – Kraber .50-Cal Sniper

Damage profile: Headshot – 250 damage; Bodyshot – 125 damage
Available attachments: None

This is another rare weapon, and similar to the Mastiff Shotgun, it uses unique ammo that cannot be replenished. One shot from the Kraber .50-Cal Sniper can take down opponents in one single shot regardless of their shield and health levels. Getting your hands on this weapon in the early stage of the game it’s a huge advantage and you will be in a good position to win the match.
