A massive ban wave seems to have come down on Apex Legends cheaters recently, judging by the distraught posts that have come out of hacking forums in the past few days. Legitimate players are enjoying the schadenfreude of the bans, and it seems that Respawn’s methods have proven quite effective.

Apex Legends cheats have been big business ever since the game’s skyrocketing debut, and cheat makers have reported earning thousands in a matter of days with hacks for the game. While Apex Legends is a free game, which means banned players can generally just create new accounts, it seems that whatever method Respawn used is sticking to keep cheaters out of the game for good.

“However they handled this shit is beyond me,” one cheat user who was screencapped on Reddit writes. “They can now detect the program or look for the IP for the software insert, because I got banned on three accounts so far for just having it running in the background. And this is while it was temporarily offline.”
